What’s your name, and how did you get started doing make-up?
"My name is Emily Hoffman, and I started getting into makeup probably for my mom. She was a cosmetologist when I was younger, and I saw her doing all this type of stuff, so it really interested me. Then I started doing it on my friends and stuff in high school, and it just sort of morphed into this whole career. After college—I went to college for English and art—it just didn't jive with me. I didn't know what to do with it, and then afterwards I was like, 'Okay, let's try makeup,' and it's really just stuck with me since."

What’s your favorite thing about doing hair and makeup?
"My favorite thing about doing makeup is making people feel beautiful on the outside, as beautiful as they are on the inside. It’s the rewarding fact of making someone feel beautiful—absolutely, that's my favorite part."

Fun fact about you?
"A fun fact—when I'm not doing makeup, which is pretty much all the time, I'm writing a book. Actually, I'm writing a fantasy novel, and it's super fun because it helps me manage my creativity really nicely between my two hobbies that have turned into jobs. So it’s awesome!"

Favorite product you can’t live without?
"I really like Tatcha’s Dewy Skin Mist. At the end of an application, when we've applied all those powders, it's really nice to bring the skin back to life. It feels like you look very airbrushed after that, and it just looks less powdery. I love it—it's my favorite."
